Cavort Photo Salon Details

River City Grotto

  • All attendees of the 2015 Florida Cave Cavort are invited to submit their photographs for the Cavort Phot Salon.
  • Photographs may only be of Florida caves, springs, or karst features (please no large landscapes), but we prefer photos taken within caves or springs.
  • Please print your submission to a full page size of 8.5" x 11" to be hung darkroom-style within a semi-enclosed building (we’ll supply hangers).
  • Photos do not have to be professionally framed or matted but may be if the applicant chooses; the print size must still be 8.5" x 11".
  • Photos will be judged by a panel of cavers, and all cavers may participate in the “Cavers’ Choice” award.
  • All entries will be judged during the Cavort prior to the Saturday evening bonfire at which time winners will be announced and prizes awarded.
  • Because of the natural conditions of the event, a digital display will not be provided so please take the time to print your images out.
  • Photos will be on display from when the photographer hangs their submission(s) until winners and awards are announced on Saturday night before the lighting of the bonfire.
  • There is no limit to the number of submissions a photographer may enter, but submissions will be denied if the photograph contains nudity or unsafe/unacceptable caving practices.
  • Entry forms will be provided on-site.
  • Photographers are encouraged to place their work for sale, but potential buyers will have to contact the photographer directly to set up the sale.
  • All photos will be the responsibility of the applicant and will not be accepted or returned by mail.
  • They must be retrieved on site prior to the end of the Cavort, or they will become the property of the River City Grotto (Cavort organizers).
